Rat bitten youth breathes his last in Mumbai hospital

Mumbai, May 4 (UNI) Twenty-seven-year-old Parvinder Gupta, who was bitten by a rat during almost two months of hospitalisation, has succumbed to his prolonged illness at the Jogeshwari Trauma Centre, in city suburb.

Recently, a rat had nibbled Parvinder’s eyes due to which he had been shifted to intensive care unit of the hospital. But the hospital authorities refuted all the claims made by the family.

He was already very serious when he was brought to the hospital and his health condition was deteriorating, doctors said.

“We tried our best to save him but he breathed his last on Thursday,” doctors said.

A senior doctor said that after the post-mortem in Siddharth hospital, Parvinder’s body was handed over to the family for the last rites.

Ram Gupta, father of Parvinder, said his son started having health issues from March 6 when he was on his way to the office. When he visited a local clinic, he was referred to a super-speciality hospital, where an MRI scan report confirmed that he has developed a blockage in his veins that was affecting the blood circulation to the brain.

After surgery, he slipped into coma and since then, he never gained his consciousness, superintendent of the hospital said, adding, there was no medical negligence by the hospital as his condition was deteriorating day-by-day.
