Five people, including two Constables, injured in stone pelting

Yadgir (Karnataka), May 10 (UNI) Five people, including two Police Constable, were injured in a group clash and stone pelting incident in Peth Ammapur in Surpur taluk in the district on Thursday.

According to the Yadgir Superintendent of Police , I.M. Marbanaing, the incident took place when after BJP workers were allegedly attacked by Congress workers during canvassing for May 12 election to Assembly.

Police said the injured have been rushed to a local hospital and their condition is stated to be stable.

Local police have taken the assistance of paramilitary force personnel to control the situation. Senior police officers visited the spot.

In another incident, followers of Guru Patil, BJP candidate in Shahapur, were allegedly attacked by Congress party workers when they were participating in a marriage ceremony in Hallisagar village in Shahapur taluk on Wednesday night. Injured have been treated in a local hospital. A case was registered in Shahapur police station.
