Aurangabad, Maharashtra, May 11 (UNI) The entire Marathwada region has been reeling under severe heat wave condition since past couple of days with the maximum temperature hovering between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius in most of the eight districts in the region.
With every passing day, the mercury has been surpassing its previous figure and the scorching sun is in no mood to relent. The intense heat wave has pushed the life on the backfoot with people staying indoors.
At noon, the streets in the region wear a deserted look, with most of the shopkeepers preferring to down their shutters and open their establishments after 1700 hours.
In view of the rising day temperatures as forecast by the weather department in coming days, the state government has issued an alert to citizens of Marathwada and Vidarbha regions to be careful and drink plenty of water and avoid going out during the period of heat.
