BJP mocks at Sidhu’s ‘Pak love’, says he should join Imran Khan cabinet

New Delhi, Oct 14 (UNI) The BJP on Sunday mocked at Congress leader and Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and said his repeated love for Pakistan only makes it a fit case that the former cricketer should join the Imran Khan cabinet in Pakistan.

“The kind of love he (Sidhu) exudes for Pakistan, the only advice which we can give is Sidhu please proceed to become a part of Imran Khan’s cabinet,” BJP spokesman Sambit Patra told reporters at the party headquarters here.

Referring to Mr Sidhu’s recent comments at a literary festival in Kasauli where the Punjab Minister said while he finds similarities in Pakistan on food and language, there are problems for a North Indian in southern states.

“This depicts his mentality to divide north and south India. This seems like a strategy being followed by the whole of Congress,” the BJP spokesman said.

He maintained that repeatedly engaging with Pakistan shows there is a “conspiracy”.

In August cricketer-turned-politician and Congress Minister in Punjab Mr Sidhu sparked off a major row after he hugged Pakistan Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa at the oath-taking ceremony of Imran Khan in Islamabad provoking strong reactions from BJP back home.

“Yeh koi sadharan bat nahi hae (This was no ordinary thing)” as Mr Sidhu is a key political leader of Congress party and is also an incumbent Minister in the Punjab government, BJP spokesman Mr Patra had said.

BJP spokesman also had questions for Congress president Rahul Gandhi and wanted to know whether Mr Sidhu had taken his (Rahul’s) permission for his visit to Pakistan.
