RSS chief calls to protect India within & outside

Nagpur, Oct 18 (UNI) Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday stressed the need to strengthen the armed forces, to ensure enhanced internal and external security and pre-empt any subversive attempts from within or outside, to harm the nation.

In his address here at the annual ‘Vijay Dashmi’ function of the RSS, Mr Bhagwat said that unless and until the nation was self-reliant in defence production, its security could not be assured.

While the pace of national efforts in this direction had to be accelerated, it was essential, he added, to be more attentive to address the basic amenities of the armed forces and their kin.

Mr Bhagwat added that efforts were underway and speeded to enhance the morale of the nation’s armed forces, making them well-equipped to provide them with latest technologies and this was one of the reasons for the rise of India’s prestige on the global arena.

He called to secure not merely the land frontiers of the nation but also its maritime borders, especially the hundreds of small islands and islets dotting it from Andaman and Nicobar Islands to Lakshadweep.
