TDP committed for welfare of its party activists : Lokesh

Vijayawada, Oct 20 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party (TDP) National General Secretary and Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT and Panchayati Raj Nara Lokesh said that the TDP is committed for the welfare of its party activists and it had spent Rs 23 crore for their families.


Mr Lokesh performed bhoomi pooja for the construction of TDP Krishna District office at Autonagar here on Saturday. 


Speaking on the occasion, he said that the TDP has a strong cadre and activists are working with dedication for the victory of the party in the next elections.


Mr Lokesh, son of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, said that the TDP is giving top priority for the welfare of TDP activists. About Rs.23 crore had been spent for the welfare of 3,000 families of TDP activists. 


When the TDP was in Opposition in the combined AP state from 2004 to 2014, 670 TDP activists were murdered, including the then MLA Paritala Ravi, he deplored. 


Despite facing troubles and harassment from the political enemies, the TDP activists c
ontinue to strive for the victory of the party, he lauded. Dismissing allegation of YSRCP President and Opposition leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Minister said that Mr Reddy was an alleged accused in several corruption cases and he is making baseless allegations against him and dared him to prove the allegations.


When the Titli Cyclone devastated the Srikakulam district, the YSRCP Chief was in the neighboring Vizianagaram district but did not visit the Cyclone hit areas so far, he charged.


Former Union Minister and MP Y Sujana Chowdary, Ministers Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao, Kollu Ravindra and MP K Narayana were among a host of leaders present on the occasion.
