Saharsa Oct 21 (UNI) Bihar DGP K S Dwivedi today handed over a cheque of Rs 21 lakhs to the
wife of slain officer-in-charge of Pasraha police station Ashis Kumar Singh.
Mr Dwivedi personally handed over the cheque Ms to Sarita Singh, wife of the slain cop who was killed during an encounter when dacoits opened fire on him at a hide-out under Pasraha police station area in Khagaria district on Saturday last.
Mr Singh had rushed to the spot in early hours on Saturday last following a tip-off that dacoits had taken shelter there and planning to loot. As Mr Singh along with the patrolling party reached the spot, the dacoits opened fire on them and a fierce encounter ensued in which Mr Singh lost his life as bullets fired by dacoits hit him.
Mr Dwivedi told media persons after handing over the cheque, that Ms Sarita Singh, wife of slain officer-in-charge, would be given suitable job in class three category. Son of the slain cop would also be recruited in Bihar police after he attained the minimum age and qualification for the post at the level his father was serving in police, he said adding that Rs 50000 had also been given to Sarita for the bravery shown by him.
