AIMF to contest all seats in Rajasthan

Jaipur, Nov 16 (UNI) After the ruling BJP denied tickets to Muslims and finding little political space in the Congress list of candidates for Assembly elections, the minority-based party All India Minorities Front (AIMF) on Friday announced to contest all 200 seats in Rajasthan.


Talking to reporters here, AIMF President SM Asif said, “We have decided to fight on all seats in the state. We will give tickets to all sections of the society and mainly to Muslims, Gujjars, Transgenders among others.”


In the 200-Rajasthan Assembly, the BJP which is contesting under the leadership of Vasundhara Raje Scindhia has not given any ticket to Muslim community this time. So far the party has declared the candidates of 162 seats.

It has also dropped the names of lone Muslim Minister Younus Khan who was being considered as number one minister in the Raje cabinet However, the Congress has released a list of 152 candidates last night, giving 9 seats to Muslims. 

The last date of filing nomination is November 19 while the state will go in voting on December 7.The counting will take place on December 11.
