AP CM to write letter to Centre asking funds for Polavaram project

Amaravati, Nov 19 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is likely to write a letter to Central government asking to release funds for the completion of Polavaram Project, being constructed across the river Godavari.


The Chief Minister conducted a virtual review meeting on the progress of the project here on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister directed the irrigation officials to speed up the works with a set target to complete the works as per schedule. He said both the concrete and earth works should be completed as per schedule.


The Chief Minister, directed officials and engineers to expedite the project works, said that radial gates should be erected as per the schedule on December 17. The Chief Minister said the R&R package works should be completed by January first week. 


As on today 61.03 per cent of the project works have been completed which included 81 per cent earth works, 48.60 per cent concrete works, 90 per cent Left main canal works, 65.54 per cent right main canal works, 61.94 per cent radial gates works.


The central government has to reimburse Rs 3,162.32 crore towards the works completed so far, he said. Minister for Water Resources Management Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, CM Principal Secretary G Saiprasad, Finance Secretary M Ravichandra, CM Additional Secretary AV Rajamouli, R&R commissioner Rekha Rani were also present.
