New Delhi, Nov 20 (UNI)With an aim to strengthen the strategic partnership and bolster defence cooperation between the two countries, Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat will embark on a four-day visit to Vietnam from Thursday.
During his visit, the Army Chief with his delegation will meet Vietnamese Defence Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich along with the Vietnam’s top military brass and hold talks.
General Rawat will also visit important military establishments, a Defence release said here.
The relationship between the two nations got upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Vietnam in 2016.
General Rawat’s visit will come close on the heels of President Ram Nath Kovind paying a visit to Vietnam.
Defence cooperation has increased exponentially over the last few years amongst all services including exchange programmes, training assistance and cooperation on various service specific issues, the release said.
The visit will be yet another ‘milestone’ in giving impetus to the strategic partnership between India and Vietnam and giving a boost to the military level cooperation, it said.
