BLOs should play vital role in Assembly election: CEO

Hyderabad, Nov 20 (UNI) Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr Rajat Kumar on Tuesday expressed hope that in spite of serious efforts made by Booth Level officers (BLOs), only 53 to 54 per cent polling was recorded in the last Assembly election in Hyderabad District because the voters lips are not being distributed properly.

Addressing the BLOs meeting along with District Electoral Officer (DEO) here, Dr Rajat said that BLOs has to play a very vital role and appreciated them for their hard work carried out till now.

He also praised the efforts made by the DEO for taking lot of interest for the smooth conduct of election, especially with regard to electoral roll works which have been done very carefully with purity and clear transparency.

The most important work of the BLOs is to take up the moral responsibility for distribution of voter slips and EPICs to all the voters involving in door-to-door visit and achieving cent percent results, he said.

The CEO said if the BLOs perform their duties effectively by following the guidelines given by the ECI, there will be an increase of 15 per cent in voting percentage as against 54 per cent recorded earlier, in the Assembly Election on December 7.
