Ludhiana fire tragedy: Sidhu hands over job appointment letters to kin of deceased employees

Chandigarh, Nov 20 (UNI) Punjab Local Government Minister Mr Navjot Singh Sidhu, handed over job appointment letters here on Tuesday to five kin of the deceased fire brigade employees died in the chemical blast after fire in a private factory at Ludhiana.

Mr Sidhu said that those given appointment letters included Sahil Gill S/o Sub Fire Officer Samaoun Gill, Tushar Sharma S/o Sub Fire Officer Rajinder Kumar Sharma, Parminder Singh S/o Sub Fire Officer Raj Kumar, Bhupinder Singh S/o Leading Fireman Puran Singh and Rekha Rani wife of Fireman Rajan.

He said that during the fire tragedy that took place previous year at Ludhiana, the brave staff of the fire brigade performed their duty with extreme dedication and nine officers/employees were martyred in the tragedy. He also said that in spite of the limited resources the services rendered by the fire personnel were exceptional.

He also said that the kin of the martyred employees were given the financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh and all their dues have also been given promptly. The victim families were also given the family pension on the priority basis.

The Minister said that as per the directives of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, works are going on to ensure the rehabilitation of the victims of the recent rail tragedy at Amritsar. Whereas on the other hand, the compensation amount has been disbursed and the jobs would also be given soon enough to the victims’ families.

Moreover seven victims’ families who are not eligible for any job, would be given Rs 8,000 per month for the entire life from his own pocket, he added.
