UP govt approves proposals of alternative and solar energy

Lucknow, Nov 20(UNI) To boost alternative and solar energy in the state,Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday gave its approval to set up a unit to generate alternative energy in Sitapur and clear 10 bids of 500 megawatt solar energy in the state.


The approval was given by state cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Yogi Adityanath here.


State government spokesperson and state health minister Sidharthnath Singh said that Sunlight Fuel Limited of Delhi will set up the alternative energy generation unit in Sitapur where they will produce 1.75 lakh liters of green fuel annually by using 500 metric tonnes of sugarcane, farm and wheat wastes.


The unit will be set up at a cost of Rs 1550.87 crores in which the state government will provide several a sops to the selected unit including waiver of stamp duty,15 per subsidy on investment and GST waiver for ten years.

Three companies had bidder for setting up the unit but Sunlight Fuel ltd was selected and the cabinet approved to give them the letter of comfort to start process to set up the unit.


In another decision the government cleared the names of 10 companies for generating 500 megawatt of solar power in the state.
Altogether 12 companies had bidder for 750 mw of solar power but the government cleared 10 only of 500 mw.


The selected companies would supply power to the government feeder at the price between Rs 3.17 per unit to Rs 3.23 per unit against the government’s maximum rate of Rs 3.25 per unit.
