Digvijay Singh’s Raghogarh is sure bet for Congress

Raghogarh/Guna(MP) Nov 21 (UNI) Unable to break into Raghogarh since long, the Bharatiya Janata Party is still struggling to break the magic of Congress leader Digvijay Singh in Raghogarh.

Raghogarh seat has been a traditional Congress seat and has always been a challenge for the BJP. Even Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan was defeated in the past by the Congress candidate.

In the last assembly election in 2013, the BJP bet on a local candidate Radhe Shyam Dhakad who was badly defeated by 58,204 votes. This time BJP has played a stake on Bhupendra Raghuvanshi who also lost to Congress in 2008 assembly poll.

This seat is now represented by the new young generation and Digvijay Singh’s son Jayawardhan Singh who defeated BJP’s Radheshyam Dhakad in 2013 by a huge margin.

In 2018 assembly poll, the BJP has nominated Bhupinder Raghuvanshi again, who lost the election from here in 2008.

The Congress is confident to retaining this seat with increased margin.

“It is a herculean task for BJP to break in to Diggi’s forte Raghogarh, CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan has addressed a public rally here but this is not going to help Raghuvanshi”, a local youth and Congress supporter Manik Singh said confidently.

Digvijay Singh is also away from the election campaign this time and there is news of a clash of interest with Jyotiraditya Scindia over the distribution of the tickets in nearby constituency but this will also not going to help BJP here.

There are two big industrial units like Gas Authority India Limited and National Fertilizer Limited that have been established in the area but employment opportunities for local youth have not been developed. However, the effect of being a legislator of the opposition is also seen. People say that they have to struggle getting any job done in Government departments. Infrastructure set up in the town needs more development.

“ People expect more job opportunities, better facilities in the area as has been developed in VIP constituency”, a local tea shop owner said.

People expect more developmental projects for Raghogarh and also from their MLA Jayawardhan Singh but being a Congress MLA, it is little difficult as the ruling party is thought to have been more interested in the demands made by its legislators rather than a Congress representative.

Congress is all set to win this seat again and now people and everyone is curious to know the increase percentage that Rajyawardhan gains this time, Ramakant Chaube, a local journalist said.
