Patna, Nov 22 (UNI) Patron of Loktantrik Janata Dal( LJD) and former union minister Sharad Yadav today described the action of dissolving Jammu-Kashmir assembly as murder of democracy by the BJP, saying the decision was taken when important parties in the state had staked claim to form government as coalition partners.
Mr Yadav said that democracy was strangulated by BJP in dissolving Jammu-Kashmir assembly which was a partisan decision reflecting the fact that the party had scant respect for parliamentary democracy in the country. It was all the more unfortunate that such a decision was taken when important parties in the state had forged alliance and staked claim to form the government in the state, he noted.
” The government had recently given its go ahead for conducting local bodies elections in Jammu-Kashmir without taking political parties into confidence in the state”, the LJD leader said adding that it was just mockery of democracy. It was clear that BJP had neither respect nor concern for constitution of the country, he felt.
Mr Yadav said that what was the reason behind existence of Jammu-Kashmir assembly when mandate was not being respected and house dissolved. ” What was the significance of local bodies elections when no political party had participated in this electoral husting?” he aasked and said whatever decisions were being taken by BJP government at the Centre was against the democratic spirit.
