Kerala Guv raises Union Minister’s grievances with CM

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 22 (UNI) Kerala Governor Justice (Retd) P Sathasivam said he highlighted the grievances expressed by Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan during his meeting with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Raj Bhavan,here on Thursday.

In a release, the Governor said the issues raised by the Union Minister of State for Finance and Shipping were discussed with the Chief Minister.

On receipt of petitions from various leaders and the general public, the Governor invited the Chief Minister to Raj Bhavan for a discussion on the issues related to Sabarimala, the release said.

During the half hour meeting which began at 1230 hrs, they discussed the measures to be taken to address the complaints regarding lack of basic amenities like drinking water, toilets and restrooms at Nilakkal, Pamba and on way to Sanidhanam, it added.

The need to improve transport facility between Nilakkal and Pamba also was discussed.

The complaints about Police action and the possibility of lifting the restrictions imposed through Section 144 of the CrPc were also discussed.

The various directions of the Kerala High Court with regard to Sabarimala also figured in the discussion.

The Chief Minister has assured the Governor that all these issues will be looked into and acted upon as soon as possible.

The Governor had received written petitions from Mr Ramesh Chennithala, Leader of the Opposition, Sabarimala Karma Samithi and others on the restrictions and the lack of facilities in Sabarimala.

A Kerala Congress delegation led by K.M. Mani MLA had also met the Governor on Wednesday.
