No JPC for pleasing Rahul’s ego: Prasad

Indore, MP, Nov 22 (UNI) Placing Congress President Rahul Gandhi in the cross-hairs in the context of the Opposition’s clamour for constitution of a joint parliamentary committee vis-a-vis the Rafale deal, Bharatiya Janata Party star campaigner and Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today said that a JPC could not be formed merely for satisfying Mr Gandhi’s ego.

Just yesterday at a press conference here, former Premier Manmohan Singh employed the words “Daal mein kuch kaala hai” while speaking about the multi-role fighter purchase agreement.

“Neighbouring countries’ air forces were becoming steadily stronger compared to ours. The deal was executed as per the prescribed procedure,” Mr Prasad said while turning the tables on Dr Singh by stating that the latter did no meaningful work – during his decade-long premiership – in the direction of fulfilling the Indian Air Force’s fighter planes’ requirement that dated back to 1985.

The agreement did not materialise during Congress tenure as no private profit could be obtained, he added.

“Triple talaq is inhuman and unconstitutional but the Congress created hurdles in the Rajya Sabha with regard to annulling it,” the visiting politician averred.
