Punjab F&CSD saved Rs 175 cr from transportation of paddy from grain markets: Minister

Fatehgarh Sahib, Nov 22 (UNI) The Food and Civil Supply Department (F&CSD) has saved approximately Rs 175 crore only from the transportation of paddy from the grain markets to warehouse stores by disbanding the truck unions and by using the used gunny bags.

Earlier, due to corrupt policies of SAD-BJP government, the entire money was being pocketed by truck unions controlled by Akali Dal leaders, Minister for Food & Civil Supply Bharat Bhushan Ashu alleged.

Talking to media persons here today, he said that state government had fixed a target to procure 200 lakh MT of paddy, but till today, only 164 lakh MT of paddy has been procured as the yield this year was less compared to last year due to unseasonal rains.

Answering a query on non-clearance of commission and labour charges bills of commission agents, he said
that the Central government has cleared the provisional sheet and the commission and labour charges bills of commission agents will be cleared soon.
