Volleyball legend Ramayya passes away

Volleyball legend and Vice-President of the All India Volleyball Federation S.Kodanda Ramayya passed away at a private hospital here on Thursday due to illness. He was 81 and survived by his wife and a son.

Ramayya, native of Nandigama in Krishna District, who was settled in Visakhapatnam, was an International volleyball player and former Indian volleyball coach and also Andhra university volleyball coach.

He was honorary president of the Visakhapatnam Olympic association. Ramayya, who was instrumental in creating best sports infrastructure in steel city, also a played a key role in bringing national and international volleyball events in Visakhapatnam.. Sports fraternity and associations condoled the death of Ramayya and paid last respects to the sports lover.
