OSCL gets patent for ‘HALQUINOL’ product

Omkar Speciality Chemicals Limited (OSCL), one of the leading players in the manufacturing of Speciality Chemicals, has received its seventh Process Patent to produce ‘HALQUINOL’ product from the Intellectual Property India, the government of India Patent office.

‘HALQUINOL’ product Molecule finds application as an antimicrobial agent, which is used as a feed additive for poultry and livestock. Pravin S Herlekar, Chairman and MD, Omkar Speciality Chemicals Limited (OSCL) said, ‘This patent is certainly a biggest achievement for our company as it is granted after validating the strong technicalities and the high economic significance of this process.’

‘We will be to cater to the growing need of the veterinary, pharmaceutical and feed supplement markets across Latin America, South East Asia, and India,’ he said. With this, the number of patents granted to OSCL till date stands at 7, and addition six more patents applications filed for other products are pending for grant, he said in a statement.

Halquinol, a non-antibiotic antimicrobial mixture of chlorohydroxyquinolines. Its powerful antimicrobial activity makes it a superior growth promoter in poultry and in meat producing animals. It acts in the intestinal tract and helps the peristaltic activity which supports in absorption of nutrients.
It is used as a feed additive for poultry and livestock. It is also used for the control and treatment of non-specified diarrhoea, particularly in livestock, statement added.
