us samay saaf neeyat nahi thi (I think their intentions on doing this thing was not with clear conscious which we felt from their certain statements),” MEA spokesman Raveesh Kumar told reporters here on Thursday. However, he said: “We will still request them that they have committed to prepare infrastructure on their side they should do that and on our side, the nodal ministry for this is doing the requisite work”.
The MEA spokesman was responding to questions on Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s recent statement that Kartarpur Corridor decision by the Pakistan government is actually guided by ‘game plan’ of the ISI.
“We have earlier also given the statement on Kartarpur Corridor that how it all began and as we said that it was decided after a cabinet meeting and we also urged Pakistan that they should prepare the infrastructure for the Kartarpur Corridor and give permission to Indian pilgrims to visit there. What happened after that you all are aware of that,” MEA spokesman said.
“Some people (Union Ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Hardeep Singh Puri and Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Siddhu) went from here went there and certain comments were made from that side, so I think there is hardly any need to speak further on this issue. I think their intentions on doing this thing was not with clear conscious,” Mr Kumar said.
Punjab Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Capt. Amarinder Singh on Tuesday urged Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to ‘stop’ actions by various anti-India forces in his country if he is ‘serious’ about peace with India.
“By seeking help of Pak Army to ‘liberate’ our Punjab, the Sikh for Justice have exposed their nexus with ISI. Their proposed Kartarpur Convention 2019 is an ISI game plan,” Capt Amarinder Singh has tweeted. In another missive, he wrote: “PM Imran Khan must stop them if serious about peace with India”.
