The Government on Friday presented in the Rajya Sabha the Supplementary demand for grants of Rs 85,948 crore for the financial year 2018-19. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley moved for consideration in the Upper House a proposal for supplemental demand for grants of Rs 85,948 crore 86 lakh.
Deputy leader of the Congress in the Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma said that before a debate on supplementary demand for grants a discussion should be held on the imposition of President’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir.
Nearly half of the total additional expenditure in the supplementary grants will be used to fund the public sector banks. There is a proposal to invest Rs 41,000 crore in government banks, which will be done through government securities. The demand for grants include an investment of Rs 2345 crores to revive the national airline Air India.
