Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Sunday paid rich tributes to Tamil writer and critic Prapanjan who had passed away here two days ago. Mr Narayanasamy visited the residence of Prapanjan and placed a wreath on his coffin. Prapanjan will be cremated with full state honours this afternoon.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Narayanasamy said that he is the one who wrote the history of Puducherry for the public after the Anandarangapillai diary. His demise is an irreparable loss to the literary world as well as to Puducherry, he added. The people of Puducherry will ever remember him through his books,the Chief Minister said.
Besides the Chief Minister, V C K leader Thol Thirumavalan,Lok Sabha member from Puducherry R Radhakrishnan and among others paid tributes in person to the departed soul. Meanwhile, Dr K P Aravaanan, Retired professor and Founder Head of Subramaniya Bharathiyar school of Tamil, Pondicherry University and Former Vice-chancellor of Manonmaniyam Sundaranar University,Thirunelveli, died in Chennai this morning . According to University sources here, he was 77 and suffered a heart attack.
