Gehlot Cabinet to be expanded in Rajasthan on Monday

The first expansion of the Ashok Gehlot led state Cabinet will be effected here on Monday. Governor Kalyan Singh will administer oath of the office and secrecy to new Ministers at a ceremony here at 1130 hrs on Monday, an official spokesman said on Sunday.

The new Gehlot led Congress government in the state–after the assembly polls-, was formed on December 17, with Chief Minister Mr Gehlot and Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot taking oath in a grand public ceremony at the historic Albert Museum Hall here.

The Congress with the support of lone member of ally RLD secured 100 seats, a clear majority in the House with effective strength of 199. As per the prevailing constitutional provision the state Council of Ministers in the state (with 200-member state legislature) can have maximum strength of 30.

Chief Minister Gehlot and his Deputy Mr Pilot were busy in deliberations with the party high command in New Delhi over the composition of the Council of Ministers for the past two days. There are speculations that 20 to 25 ministers are likely to be inducted on Monday.
