It was a dream comes true for people in this district with ailing heart problems and thanks to Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research (JICSR) for started performing open heart surgery. It was also a sigh of relief for the heart patients from Mysuru region and surrounding districts as the patients had to go Jayadeva Hospital in Bengaluru for the complicated and risky open heart surgery with a huge financial burden and stress. Now they can avail the facility here at a discounted price.
Hospital sources told UNI that Jayadeva Hospital, which was operating at K R Hospital premises here with 100 beds, was shifted to the new facility from August 16 this year on PKTB Sanatorium campus on KRS Road. The new set-up built at a cost of Rs 150 crore was inaugurated by the then chief minister Siddaramaiah.
JICSR had commenced open heart surgeries at the hospital here and more than 25 such surgeries had been conducted so far, said institute director C N Manjunath. The new campus began functioning in August this year and all departments had become operational. The facilities available at the Bengaluru Jayadeva Institute were also available in the Mysuru unit, he said.
So far, 50 lakh people had availed hospital services in Bengaluru, Mysuru and Kalaburagi. In Mysuru alone, five lakh people had availed treatment as out-patients and 40,000 as in-patients. The Mysuru campus was handling 500 out-patients daily, Dr. Manjunath said.
“The hospital has having four operation theaters for performing open-heart surgeries, cardiac CT scan lab and MRI facilities among others. Patients from neighboring districts of Mandya, Mysuru and Chamarajanagar, Hassan and Kodagu are expected to benefit from the hospital. The hospital offers master cardiac health check-up at a discounted rate at Rs 2500, the tests include doctor consultation, ECG, X-ray, ECHO, TMT, Lipid profile, blood sugar, kidney liver function tests and Haemogram.
The hospital has treated thousands of cardiac patients so far. Forty-thousand patients have availed angiogram, angioplasty, wall plasty stunt and pacemaker procedures. Around 500 patients visit the hospital every day.
