The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too fell by 21.45 points to 10,732.55.
Though, the sensex opened higher by 117 points to 35,859.66, it immediately went down in early trade.
The sensex registered intra day high and low at 35,910.67 and 35,634.50 respectively.
The Nifty recorded intra day high and low at 10,782.30 and 10,708.65 points respectively.
The sectoral indices like Utilities, Auto, Bankex, Metal, Power and Realty stocks kept the market down, broker informed.
The losers were Hero MotoCorp by 3.13 pc to Rs 3216, Bajaj Auto by 2.01 pc to Rs 2705.05, Asian Paints by 1.66 pc to Rs 1364.74, HCC Tech by 1.46 pc to Rs 943.80 and VEDL by 1.45 pc to Rs 197.25.
The gainers were TCS by 1.98 pc to Rs 1934.75, Infosys by 1.43 pc to Rs 655, ITC by 1.27 pc to Rs 280, Sun Pharma by 1.21 pc to Rs 429.90 and Yes Bank by 1.09 pc to Rs 184.90
