New Train between Assam and Bengal heralds a new dimension of Indian Railways

Siliguri, Jan 01: A newly introduced weekly express train between Silghat (Assam) to Kolkata was being flagged off today heralding a new dimension in connecting railways between two neighbouring states of eastern part of the country.

The train is expected to be greatly beneficial for improving the trade and commerce of the middle Assam areas apart from improving the communication with rest of the country, NFR officials explained.

The new train will compose of 19 new model LHB coaches having modern amenities and facilities for passenger. 

Train number 13182 Silghat-Kolkata Express will leave from Silghat at 1230 hrs every Tuesday to reach Kolkata at 1250 hrs next day. 

During return journey, train number 13181 Kolkata-Silghat Express will leave from Kolkata at 0905 hrs on Monday to reach Silghat at 0955 hrs on Tuesday. 

The train will have stoppages at Jakhalabandha, Amoni, Nowgong, Senchoa, Chaparmukh, Jagiroad, Guwahati, Kamakhya, Goalpara Town, New Bongaigaon, Fakiragram, New Alipurduar, New Coochbehar, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Rampurhat, Bolpur and Barddhaman during its journey on both ways.

The train will have one AC 2 tier, four AC 3 tier, eight sleeper class and four general second class coaches apart from two luggage cum generator vans.

The inaugural train bearing number 03182 will leave from Silghat at 1330 hrs on January One to arrive Kolkata at 1350 hrs on January 2. Regular service of the train will start from Kolkata with effect from January 7, 2018 and from Silghat January 8, 2018.
